The Special Fundraising Committee has traditionally raised funds for the school through the Box Tops for Education program and the Target Visa program. In 2004, a Christmas craft show "Holiday Shoppe" was also added to the committee's events. While other fundraising projects are also an option and are reviewed as presented to the committee, our goal is to raise funds that do not require any additional spending by the parents of STM.
Box Tops for Education coupons are acquired from major household brand products that participate in the program and are returned to the school by school and church families. These coupons are counted by school parent volunteers and are submitted to the Box Tops program twice each school year.
The Target Visa program, “Take Charge of Education”, earns STM money on each purchase made through a Target Visa that has been linked electronically to the program. Anyone can link their Target Visa using STM's school code(17852) and thereby benefit the school. Follow the link above and click “Community”, “Education” and then “Take Charge of Education”. In the 2005-2006 school year, these combined programs earned STM nearly $2000 from no additional purchases.
"Holiday Shoppe" is a craft show featuring hand-made crafts from crafters throughout the Triangle and North Carolina. It is held the first Saturday of December from 9am to 3pm in the STM gymnasium. Planning for the event begins in September of the school year. Funds are generated by renting table space to crafters for $40, by selling bake goods, and through raffle ticket sales. In 2005, 65 crafters participated and $3400 was raised. Parent volunteers are needed to help plan the event, conduct publicity, help with setup and cleanup, sell baked goods, and sell raffle tickets.
